Our Scout group is based in Usk in South Wales and we are a member of Monmouthshire District Scouts.
We hope that Parents, new Leaders or prospective new Leaders will find all the general scouting information you need here.
We hope that our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will enjoy looking at our recent activities and finding out about badges they can try for.
At the 1st Usk Scout Group we welcome all young people from the ages of 5 ¾ up to 14 years old, giving them the opportunity to enjoy and experience the scouting adventure! We’re the only Scout Group in Usk and we have been providing fun, challenge and adventure for young people for over 75 years. We believe in helping our members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves.
We have the following sections and always welcome new members:-
Beavers
Cubs
Scouts
All sections meet at our HQ which is the Centenary Hall, Maryport Street, Usk, NP15 1AD.
If you need any more information please contact us.
Group Scout Leader (GSL)
We are lucky to have a great Group Scout Leader (Deb Bainbridge) whose job is to make sure that everything runs smoothly and that the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoy their time with our Group.
Each section has its own leadership team and runs its own programme but there are close links between the sections. Deb provides support for all the sections. We have several annual events that all Group members participate in: Camps, Remembrance Day Parade in November and St Georges Day Parade in April.
Trustees
The Group Trustees take decisions on behalf of the whole group and they are elected at the AGM. Without the Trustee Committee the Group would be unable to run. The Trustees haves a wide range of responsibilities and can always benefit from your help.
As a Trustee you can contribute as little or as much time as you want! From helping with clean ups and repairs around the Hall, cooking a few burgers at an event, transporting kit to camp to producing the website or running a fundraising event to name but a few.
The Trustee committee meet quarterly and if you would like more information about this then please contact our Group Secretary at Contact us
If you don’t feel you have enough time to get involved as a Trustee then helping out at events or at Beaver/Cub/Scout meetings makes a huge difference. Potentially your child could be with us for 10 years so we would encourage you to get involved.
